Why does Earth look blue from space?
主因是海洋:水对红橙黄光吸收较强,蓝光最容易被散射回来,深海水区把其他颜色吞掉,只把蓝色反射向太空;白云的漩涡是第二贡献者。宇航员因此称地球为蓝色弹珠。每颗行星的颜色都是它的自拍照:火星是铁锈的红,金星是被浓硫酸云染成的黄白。
Oceans lead the way: water absorbs longer wavelengths while blue scatters most readily back to space, and deep seas swallow other hues; white cloud swirls chip in second — astronauts call Earth the blue marble. Every planet photographs its own selfie: Mars rust-red from iron oxide, Venus yellow-white under sulfuric acid clouds.
