Mimosa has no nerves but runs hydraulics: touch triggers electrochemical waves to pulvini — water cushions at leaf joints — which dump water instantly so leaves fold. Playing dead discourages grazers and sheds storm rain. Water returns minutes later and leaves reopen. Plants lack feelings yet command electricity and pressure fast.
