Why can bleached coral still be "saved"?
Bleaching is a stress "strike," not instant death; if heat ends soon, zooxanthellae can return. Repeated bleaching exhausts corals until they truly die.

Reefs cover only ~1% of sea surface, so why do ~1/4 of marine species live there?
3-D coral structure is like a city with countless caves, crevices and feeding niches; complex space and rich food make a small reef a marine "species apartment".

Why are corals and zooxanthellae in "symbiosis"?
Zooxanthellae live inside corals, photosynthesizing sugar and oxygen for them; corals give shelter and CO₂—each feeds the other, and apart both struggle.

Why is coral bleaching caused by "heat"?
Prolonged warm water makes corals expel their zooxanthellae, losing color and main food, leaving white calcium-carbonate skeletons; if heat eases, some can regain color.
