Do visual, auditory, kinesthetic learning-style tests really predict performance?
Evidence does not support the meshing hypothesis that teaching to style improves learning. People have preferences, but mixed multisensory learning usually works better. Do not let style labels block other methods.

Do male and female brains really differ essentially, like two models?
Research favors a mosaic view: each brain mixes both sexes' features, group averages differ little and overlap heavily. Labeling people by male or female brain overstates and reinforces stereotypes.

Is multiple personality the same as a person having many sides?
No. Dissociative identity disorder, formerly multiple personality, is a rare, severe trauma-linked disorder with memory gaps across identities, while everyone shows different sides in different contexts, which is normal. Confusing them is both unscientific and stigmatizing.

Does alcohol really drown sorrow?
Alcohol is a depressant that briefly numbs but then deepens low mood, wrecks sleep and amplifies swings, so the sorrow often returns stronger. It masks feeling instead of solving it and can build dependence.

Is there really such a thing as blood type determining personality?
No scientific evidence exists. Large cross-cultural studies find no reliable link between blood type and personality traits; it is mostly a pop-culture belief. Personality is shaped by genes, environment and experience together.

Can dreams predict the future?
No scientific evidence shows dreams foresee events. Dreams mostly recombine memory, emotion and the day's fragments, and apparent hits are coincidence or after-the-fact reinterpretation.

Are left-handed people smarter or more creative?
No reliable evidence links left-handedness to higher intelligence or creativity. It is simply a natural variation in brain lateralization, not necessarily tied to talent.

Can hypnosis make people reveal secrets or be controlled to do harm?
No. Hypnosis is not loss of will; the person keeps judgment, refuses acts against values and will not reveal secrets they mean to keep. It is closer to a cooperative state of deep focus.

Does playing Mozart to babies make them smarter? What happened to the Mozart effect?
A small 1993 study found college students scored briefly higher on spatial tasks after a Mozart sonata; media inflated it into classical-music-smartens-babies, complete with state governments shipping CDs. Large meta-analyses since show any effect is one to two points lasting minutes, driven by improved mood and arousal — any enjoyable music works, and there is no evidence for infants. The robust benefit comes from actively learning an instrument: years of training track better auditory discrimination, motor coordination and executive function. Passive listening is no brain tonic; lessons are.
