布尔迪厄为何说“趣味分类人”?趣味如何在象征层面再生产阶级差异?

Why does Pierre Bourdieu claim that 'taste classifies,' and how does taste reproduce class differences at the symbolic level?

在《区分》中,布尔迪厄指出趣味并非纯粹个人偏好,而是习性的表达:早期家庭教养把客观阶层处境内化为持久的感知与评价图式。上层偏爱形式化、“超然”的高雅文化,大众偏爱功能性与即时快感,趣味由此成为划分‘我们’与‘他们’的分类框架。由于这种区分被误认作天赋差异而非社会建构,它便以‘自然品位’之名把等级正当化,完成象征层面的阶级再生产。
In Distinction, Bourdieu argues that taste is never pure personal preference but an expression of habitus: early upbringing converts objective class conditions into durable schemes of perception and evaluation. Dominant groups favor formal, distanced highbrow culture while popular classes favor functional, immediate pleasures, so taste becomes a scheme of classification dividing 'us' from 'them.' Because this division is misrecognized as natural aptitude rather than social construction, it legitimizes hierarchy in the name of good taste—class reproduction achieved symbolically.

斯威德尔的“文化工具箱”论如何看待文化对行动的作用?它与把文化视为内在化价值观的传统解释有什么不同?

How does Swidler's culture-as-toolkit argument see the role of culture in action, and how does it differ from the traditional view of culture as internalized values steering behavior?

斯威德尔主张,文化更像一个装有符号、故事、仪式和行动风格的工具箱,而非直接支配行为的内在化价值体系。在相对稳定的时期,人们先确定行动目标,再挑选文化工具为做法辩护;只有在剧烈变动的时期,文化才参与塑造新的行动策略。文化因此被理解为人们组装行动时可取用的技能储备,发挥策略作用而非机械决定。
Swidler argues that culture resembles a toolkit holding symbols, stories, rituals, and styles of conduct rather than a value system that dictates behavior. In settled times people fix their goals first and draw on cultural tools to justify what they do; only in deeply unsettled times does culture help shape new strategies of action. Culture is thus a repertoire of skills people assemble into conduct, functioning strategically instead of mechanically determining outcomes.

为什么每个地方的人说话口音都不一样?普通话是怎么来的?

Why do people speak with different accents? Where did Mandarin come from?

语言像河流,隔着山就慢慢分岔:同一句话,广东、四川、东北各自越说越不同,成了方言。普通话是以北京语音为标准、全国共同推广的通用语,让大家跨省交流不隔阂。方言是家乡的声音宝藏,普通话是沟通的桥梁,两者都珍贵。
Languages flow like rivers splitting around mountains: the same sentence drifts differently in Guangdong, Sichuan or Dongbei, becoming dialects. Mandarin uses Beijing sounds as a standard bridge so people across provinces connect. Dialects are hometown treasure; Mandarin is the bridge — both precious.
