Why does a 'structural hole' in a network bring information advantage?
A structural hole is a gap between two otherwise disconnected groups; whoever bridges it gains access to information from both sides that neither group has. This brokerage position yields earlier, non-redundant information and control over its flow.

Why needn't the most 'central' person in a network hold the most power?
Network centrality measures connectivity, not control; a node can be central yet merely a pass-through with little leverage. Real power often lies with those who control key resources, gatekeep critical links, or occupy strategic structural holes—not simply those with the most ties.

What is the 'strength of weak ties' (friends of friends)?
Sociologist Granovetter found close friends' info overlaps, while 'weak ties' (acquaintances) bring fresh opportunities, like a job from a rarely-contacted friend. Broad shallow links often beat deep narrow ones.

Why does 'knowing the right people' often help find a job?
Many jobs aren't publicly posted; referrals match trust faster. The referrer stakes their reputation, the employer saves screening cost, and the candidate is easier to trust.
