Is everything on the news true? How can I tell if a message is trustworthy?

Three checks: source — real media name reporters and organizations; evidence — photos, data, named witnesses; cross-check — do reliable channels agree? Scary headlines begging for shares deserve question marks. Verify like a detective and rumors cannot fool you.

Why do clickbait headlines survive? What traffic logic hides behind exaggeration?

Recommendation algorithms reward clicks: the more sensational the headline, the higher the opens and ad revenue, forcing creators to choose truth versus traffic as bad coins drive out good. Fixes work both ends: platforms ranking by read-through and reports rather than clicks alone, readers voting by not clicking. Starve clickbait of attention and it starves.

Is the echo chamber real? Do recommendation algorithms actually polarize us?

Evidence is messier than intuition. Selective exposure is real: people prefer congenial sources and homogeneous friend networks amplify it. Yet large-scale audits find ordinary users encounter more diverse news online than they believe, pure echo chambers concentrate among small highly partisan minorities, and algorithms take blame that human sharing and active search share equally. The solid mechanism is emotional economics: outrage and moral condemnation earn engagement, rewarding creators who produce adversarial labels. So the cure is not bursting bubbles but fixing platform incentives alongside media literacy.
